Blogcadia is the home of a small community of bloggers; mostly my extended family and a few friends.

We use a hacked version of Nucleus CMS, which is a fantastic blogging engine. I've added the ability to have it work for multiple domains using one database. I don't keep it up to date (not much time to work on it) but it does the job. :)

Features added to the picture & media manager

Aug 27 – For a while now, I've been asked for an easy way to resize photos inside the system. I found software that can edit photos online (resize, crop, and rotate), so I've added that to the media manager.

Well, that and a few other things. I was on a bit of a roll, so I added a few features that I've wanted myself - like the ability to delete files, and find out which posts a given file is used in.

Software update progress

Jun 03 – I've got a major upgrade in the works, take a look here for info. Here's a quick summary: more comment and trackback anti-spam tools, more features. (We love features, and hate comment spam!)

Server upgrade status

Mar 10 – I've got the web and database services up on the new host, and all of the data sync'd over to it. I expect to make the switchover to the new server this weekend... probably over Saturday night. Sunday morning, I will disable logins to the old server and enable them on the new one. If on Sunday you can't login, the name servers your ISP uses may not be updated yet - you're looking at the old server. (That can take some time, and is out of my control if their name servers don't behave.) You'll just have to wait it out for a couple of hours. Beyond that, contact me.

I can't wait to get past this so I can start ironing out the bugs, adding skins, and writing new functionality.

Server upgrade!

Feb 26 – I've opened an account with another server company, which will be providing 4x the amount of memory for the server at roughly the same price per month.

I'll begin switching over to the new server this week; I'll post more information here about any expected downtime from the move.

Because of the increased memory, response time of all of the Blogcadia & gednet sites should show an improvement. We'll also be able to take on more bloggers; time will tell how many the new box will support but it should be in the range of dozens, I believe.

I'm also working on some "getting started" documentation that I will be giving each new account.
